THE HUMAN SIDE OF TRANSFORMATION

Sometimes the strategy isn't the hardest part.

Teams change, leaders grow, organisations evolve and sometimes the thing getting in the way isn't the strategy, process or technology, but the patterns of behaviour underneath them.

I'm an Enneagram practitioner, and I sometimes use the Enneagram as a lens for understanding those patterns.

It can be particularly useful in situations such as:

  • Leadership development

Understanding personal patterns, strengths and blind spots, particularly as leadership scope and complexity increase.

  • Teams in transition

Creating a shared language for different perspectives, working styles and predictable points of friction as teams form, grow or change.

  • Transformation & change

Understanding the human patterns that can support or impede change, beyond the formal strategy, process and operating model.

  • Team effectiveness

Helping teams recognise how their collective dynamics influence communication, decision-making and performance.

Used thoughtfully, the Enneagram can help people see their strengths, blind spots and recurring dynamics more clearly, and create more choice in how they work together.

It's not the solution to a business problem but instead a lens that can help people understand the human dynamics underneath it.

I bring it into the work where it is useful, alongside the other strategic, behavioural and organisational lenses the situation calls for.
